Anete Steinberga's two free throws with 3.5 seconds secured Latvia the bronze medal at the U20 European Championship for Women with a 53-49 victory over France, who failed to win a medal for the first time at a U20 women's event.

Steinberga scored 14 points, Sabine Niedola had 12 points and nine rebounds and Ieva Krastina hit all seven of her points in the final 12 minutes, helping Latvia to their third U20 women's bronze medal following 2005 and 2009.

Alina Iagupova and Olesia Malashenko combined for 45 points to lead Ukraine to an 82-64 victory over Lithuania to claim fifth place at the U20 European Championship for Women.

Burcu Cigli and Safiye Karaman both scored 13 points and Ozge Yavas added 12 points as Turkey knocked off Serbia 68-46 to finish seventh in the tournament.

Germany finished off their U20 European Championship for Women by handing Romania their first loss of the relegation round, winning 75-68 in Grobina.

Pia Mankertz scored 13 points while Astrid Ramcke added 11 points and Svenja Brunckhorst chipped in 10 rebounds to improve Germany's relegation record to 4-2. Gabriela Munteanu tallied 14 points and Andreea Pop and Bianca Barba each scored 13 points as Romania dropped to 5-1.

No head coach, 3,000 hostile fans screaming at you and trailing by nine in the fourth quarter. No problem if you're Spain, who showed tremendous resiliency in overcoming Latvia 56-52 to set up a date with Russia in the final of the U20 European Championship for Women.

But it's five summers of winning youth gold and silver medals that helped Spain through the tough moments in Liepaja and reach the U20 women's final for the third time. And the Iberians are looking to take one step up from the 2009 silver and add 2010 gold to their 2007 title.

Magda Kaczmarska and Martyna Cebulska both scored 15 points as Poland beat the Netherlands 61-50 to claim ninth place at the U20 European Championship for Women.

In the game for 11th place, Katsiaryna Kashlei scored 24 points and Maryia Filonchyk collected 12 points and 11 rebounds to help Belarus past Italy 91-72.
